Chaff Cutter Price in Rwanda (2026): Which Grass Cutter Is Right for Your Cows?
Chopping grass before feeding cows and goats reduces waste, helps animals eat more and improves milk production. A chaff cutter does in one hour what takes a worker a whole day by hand. Here is what a chaff cutter costs in Rwanda in 2026 and how to choose the right one.
Chaff cutter prices in Rwanda
| Model | Power | Capacity | Price (RWF) |
|---|---|---|---|
| ORORA NEZA chaff cutter | 2.2 kW electric, conveyor feed | up to 500 kg/h | 950,000 |
| Mini chaff cutter 220V | single-phase (home power) | up to 1,200 kg/h | 1,100,000 |
How to choose a chaff cutter
- Number of animals. Work out how much fresh grass you cut per day. Most small and medium dairy farms are well served by 500–1,200 kg per hour.
- Your electricity. If you only have normal household power, choose a 220V single-phase model.
- Wet and dry forage. Check that the machine cuts both fresh grass (Napier/urubingo) and dry stalks.
- Safety. A conveyor feed keeps hands away from the blades.
- Blades and spare parts. Blades need sharpening and replacing. Buy where spare blades are sold locally.
Make your own animal feed
Many farmers combine a chaff cutter with a feed pellet machine (150 kg/h) or an oil press that leaves protein-rich seed cake for animals.
